UPDATED INFORMATION "ABOUT US PAGE" THIS WILL BE REPOSTED IN THE NEW SITE!

The Delta Area Animal Society’s Shelter Assistance Program is a program that helps the Delta County Animal Shelter. The program is there to purchase some needed items such as a washer and/or dryer, fencing for the dog exercise area, and just recently a new set of cat cages. The funds also help provide limited vet care and medicine for sick animals.

DAAS’s Dog Training Rebate Program is for individuals who adopt a dog from the Delta County Animal Shelter. Upon successful completion of obedience class, the owner can submit a copy of their Certificate of Completion to: DAAS, PO Box 158, Wells, MI 49894. A check for $20.00 will be issued as the rebate. The Bay de Noc Kennel Club offers obedience classes at the Delta County Animal Complex (the building next to the Shelter). For more information on programs the Kennel Club offers, visit their website at www.baydenockennelclub.com or contact Jean Lyle at (906) 786-1719. Another option for obedience class is trainer Lynda Reese. Not only does she offer to come to your home for training, she also offers an additional $20 rebate for Shelter dogs. Call Lynda at 906-359-4327 for more information.

Delta Area Animal Society’s Cinderella Vet Fund is an income based fund designed to assist individuals/families with spaying/neutering costs. This fund has been around for a while, but will be used in lieu of the former Snip and Clip program that once ran. Applications can be picked up at your local veterinary clinics. The clinics will also be able to answer any questions you may have about the Cinderella Vet Fund guidelines.

I would like to say a special thank you to Dawn who is now taking all the dog photos. Dawn is doing a wonderful job. The dog pictures never looked better.

We have a another new helper on board for the cat pictures and her name is Jodi. Jodi will be taking videos to send to us so that we can upload them. We are concentrating more on the featured "urgent" pets at this time, but eventually we will be adding more videos of the other less urgent animals.

Thank you Ladies for all your help in making my job on the website alot easier.. Let's not forgot Adrienne, Becky, Ed, Matt and the many other volunteers who make the picture and information process an easier task. Without all thier help it would take alot longer to update and keep things current on the website! :)

Jenna~

On another note, the shelter could sure use a few more dedicated and reliable volunteers for helping with cleaning cages and other daily tasks. I have been out there on a number of ocassions and it has been very busy, one or two people cant do it all, so if you have spare time and really want to make a difference, please call the shelter and ask where you can help out. Every persons efforts to better the animals stay counts!!!

Special Event Huge Success!

Our Kidʼs Day was a HUGE success on June 14th. Thanks to all who were able to come. Everyone had a good time and learned the basics of good pet care. For those of you who were unable to attend, we are looking at doing this again in January 2009 with additional fun stuff. Keep your eyes open for details later this year.
