ABOUT US.......................
The Delta Area Animal Society is a non-profit group committed to promoting animal welfare and to educate the public on spay/neutering their animals. Although our primary emphasis is on dogs and cats, we are also concerned for well being of other animals.
The Delta Animal Society holds various fund raising events to generate sufficient funds for our various programs which are designed to help animals and our community.
The Delta Area Animal Society meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce. New members are welcome.
Any group, or individual, interested in being added to our agenda, please contact Catherine Carlson @ 786-2570 no later than the Tuesday prior to our meeting. Thank You!
Here is a brief description of some of the programs we have in place:
Cinderella Vet Fund:
This is an income-based fund designed to assist individuals and families with the spaying/ neutering costs of their pets. Federal income guidelines are used to determine what level of assistance the Delta Area Animal Society will provide to the pet owner. In some cases, the owners responsibility may be as little as $30.00. The fund can cover from 20% to 80% of the cost of spaying/neutering. Your veterinarian will be able to tell you if they participate in the Cinderella Program and they will be able to answer any of your questions regarding the fund. An application can be picked up at your local veterinarian office or downloaded from this website under Download Forms Here.
Dog Training Rebate Program:
This program is available to individuals who adopt a dog from the Delta County Animal Shelter. A $20 rebate is paid when the dog successfully completes an obedience course. Upon course completion, send a copy of the certificate along with your name and address to: Delta Area Animal Society, P.O. Box 158, Wells, MI 49894. A $20 rebate check will be mailed to you.
Bay de Noc Kennel Club offers obedience classes in the Training Center, located next to the Delta County Animal Shelter. For more information on programs the Kennel Club offers, visit their website at www.baydenockennelclub.com.
Another option for obedience class is trainer Lynda Reese. Not only will she come to your home for training, she also offers an additional $20 rebate for dogs adopted from the Delta County Animal Shelter. Call Lynda at 906-359-4327 for more information.
Senior Pet Program:
To assist seniors 55 and older we offer a program to encourage the adoption of pets 5 years old and up. When a senior adopts a cat or dog, from the Delta County Animal Shelter that is at least 5 years old, we will reimburse $25.
Just ask during the adoption process and shelter staff will give you the form to fill out. The form can then be mailed to us at: Delta Area Animal Society, P.O. Box 158, Wells, MI 49894 and we will mail you your rebate.

This scholarship is available to students at Bay de Noc Community College whose major is related to animal science studies, i.e. veterinary medicine, vet technician, or animal control; or if none found, a political science major.
